The Best Of Times - The Worst Of Times

News - 26/11/2007

Well, it's been a little more than the few days I intended this update to be, owing to a few personal problems stopping me thinking straight (those who know me know what). Our current season is pretty much over, and from those events your webmaster has made, it's been an enjoyable one so far.

Bedes World was the first event for me that was enjoyed by everyone, marred only by our car overheating on the way home. A welcome was made to new members, John, Karen, Lana and Dani, although the only real newbie was Dani as the other three have been involved in re-enactment for a number of years.

Next we went over to County Antrim, Northern Ireland, to Shane's Castle for the second year running. And for the second year running, it rained, though not too bad for set-up, and it brightened up on Sunday for a good day's display. Definitely a wonderful time for the twenty of us that went over there, though quite a few of us were exhausted after we got home.

A bit of a rest until 21st July, when we supported Dorman Museum in Middlesbrough for a one day show, which seemed to be a draw for the public, and interesting for those of us who had a look around for ourselves. A week later, and we had the familiar surroundings of Hexham, and the Old Gaol and Moot Hall. The summer seemed to finally arrive and I think everyone had a good time, talking to the public, demonstrating points of interest, and catching up with those who can only attend minimum events with the rest of us.

A week and a bit later, we were on the high speed ferry again, and over to Northern Ireland, but further South as we travelled to Enniskillen for another long weekend, and some very interesting accomodation for us in a rather spiffing Youth Hostel. Although it was a nice place to be, sadly the weather let us down on the Saturday, making things rather miserable for us all. Hopefully we will be invited back again next year, and the weather will be better. At the end of August, we had a three day event over the Bank Holiday weekend at Bede's World, as Napoleonic people for the first time this year. Sadly, owing to ill health, my family and I weren't able to make it along, although a good time was had by all, from what I've been told.

A new feature to come soon is the Gallery, which will be built on over coming months as work is completed, with plans for articles to be published in the next couple of months.
